Made-Up Language Harvey Valdes

(composer) Guitarist and composer, Harvey Valdes, has worked on projects ranging from free jazz with Daniel Carter, electronic world music with Dub Gabriel, Rhys Chatham’s A Crimson Grail for 200 Electric Guitars, Middle Eastern/Balkan jazz orchestra Anistar, and avant rock group K.Page and Sleepwalker’s Parade. He is also an Associate Artist with the experimental theater company, The Wooster Group, and worked over a three year period on their production of Francesco Cavalli’s 1641 baroque opera, La Didone. His compositions expand the capacity of the guitar through the use of loops unearthing the musical color in effects and highlighting texture as a distinct compositional element. This experimentation results in sensitively layered sonic canvases. He will release an album of solo guitar material in 2011.
